I mean I think Rock has just evolved away from the “Classic" sound that virtually all the bands you listed have. You still have lots of new Rock bands. Just now there’s a lot more rage and heaviness than there used to be. I guess you would probably classify that stuff as either Alt or Metal, but unless it’s like straight up Death Metal, bands like Spiritbox and Beartooth are just what Rock is now. And maybe it isn’t as mainstream of a genre as it used to be, but isn’t the point of Rock to not be mainstream? Personally, I like the harder, heavier stuff. If you like the classic sound, I think Halestorm has a lot of songs that could fit pretty neatly into that genre. Volbeat is also not exactly “Classic" but they have a lot of songs that are not so Slipknot soundy either. I know they’re pre-2010 but they’re also not in their 70s either. But I mean the whole point is I don’t think Rock is dying, just changing. Maybe you feel like that means it isn’t Rock anymore, but I am kind of an umbrella gal. You could call anything from Bob Dylan and The Beatles to Avenged Sevenfold and FFDP Rock. That’s the beauty of the genre — it’s super diverse.
